AWM Amaroo & ReLove
We Need Your Old Workstation Tops.
Giving Workstation Tops a Second Life
What happens to a workstation when its working life comes to an end?
79% of materials from an average office defit in Sydney are sent to landfill.*
At AWM Amaroo, we’ve been putting these materials to work again.
During a recent office defit, we collected 126 linear used worktops, diverting them from landfill and bringing them back to our Fairfield factory. Rather than letting the material go to waste, we repurposed it into 42 queen-size bed frames. Once manufactured, the frames were delivered to our partners at Re-Love, ready to be distributed to families and communities in need.
126 worktops. 42 new bed frames. A much better second life.
It’s a clear example of what can happen when we look at the end of a product’s life as another starting point.
We Need Your Old Workstation Tops
If your company is planning an office defit, refurbishment or workstation replacement, don’t send those old linear worktops straight to landfill. Get in touch with us. We’re looking for opportunities to collect suitable workstation tops and repurpose them through our manufacturing capabilities.
A workstation may have reached the end of its first life, but its materials can still have plenty left to give.
If you have old workstation tops coming out of a project, we’d like to hear from you.

Bedframes for ReLove
In 2024 we bagan collaborating with FF&3 to further support ReLove. ReLove will often receive donated mattresses without a bedframe. FF&3 developed a concept to redirect old workstation tops from landfill, engaging us to develop an easy to assemble bedframe utilising the material from discarded workstation tops.
After extensive prototyping and feedback AWM Amaroo developed a bedframe that could be easily assembled on site, was strong, and could be adapted to suit a range of mattress sizes.
AWM Amaroo worked with FF&3’s client to collect their old workstation tops during a defit, diverting 3800kg of waste from landfill. These tops were then repurposed in our Fairfield factory, with roughly one and a half workstation tops going into each new bedframe. These bedframes were then delivered to Relove ready to be destributed.
According to the Australian Circular Economy Hub, the alarming reality with workplace furniture is “In Sydney, 79 percent of materials from an average office de-fit is sent to landfill.” Our goal is to ensure the end of life of workstations doesn’t just end up in landfill, and we are proud to offer this opportunity to future projects.
